Júliusa Bútora – wire-braided ceramics

The wire-braided ceramics from the workshop of Július Bútora include jugs, jugs and bowls. He decorates glass, wood and Easter eggs with various patterns and techniques of weaving, and he also makes jewellery and various decorations from wire. Wooden carvings include wooden containers “vahan”, mixing spoons and troughs, which are made using an old technique, honest handwork – hollowing out old dried aspen wood.

Július Bútora began carving in the late 1980s, when he carved his first trough from poplar wood. As time went by, he became fascinated by the world of tinkering alongside wood. In addition to carving, he is also involved in wire braiding. He will braid ceramics, glass and wood to complement their design and use, and breathe new life into damaged pieces
