The Banská Bystrica region offers forgotten and vast corners not yet discovered by tourists, natural wealth and diversity, untouched historical monuments, but also valleys where it is difficult to find work and unemployment is mostly long-term. That is why tourism has become one of the region’s priorities, as it is able to create employment and economic opportunities in all areas of the region at the same time and thus take advantage of the multiplier effect of this sector on local employment.

However, the development of tourism requires professional coordination, investment and a strategy sensitive to the potential of individual tourist areas. It is this daunting task that the Development Agency has taken on. It is important to build professional human capacities directly in the regions, therefore the Development Agency directly supports 7 regional tourism organisations in the region, which it assists in terms of personnel, financial, consultancy and coordination.
