In 1435 it was taken as a deposit by the Perényi family, in 1440 the owner of the castle – Queen Elizabeth entrusted the security of the estate to Ján Jiskra. In 1483 the castle was conquered by the troops of King Matthias Corvinus. In 1551, when the Turkish threat intensified, he had the castle rebuilt into a massive Renaissance fortress, but despite the efforts of the defenders, it fell into the hands of the Turks in 1554. Imperial troops recaptured the castle from the Turks in 1593. The castle subsequently passed through the hands of several owners. Since 1972, the castle ruins have been conserved. After the reconstruction of Bebek’s bastion, an exhibition of the history of the castle and the town was set up there, which can be visited.
