Today’s neo-Romanesque parish church of St. Anthony of Padua and the parish in Modrý Kameň date back to a more recent period. The church was built in 1879. It is a monumental one-nave building with a presbytery with a semicircular closure and a five-storey western tower. The nave is covered with a wooden ceiling, and the presbytery has a barrel vault and a concha. Modrý Kameň did not have its own parish priest until year 1788. Chaplains from the castle were entrusted with serving the sacraments and holding religious services. They did not live in the castle, but in the village. For this reason, they asked the church authorities to allow them to establish a chapel in the village.. Firstly, so that they do not have to go to the castle every day to celebrate Holy Mass and administer the sacraments, but mainly so that when administering the sacraments to the sick, they do not have to go to the castle for the sacrament.
