My name is Miroslav Kukučka and I come from the picturesque town of Modrý Kameň, which is located on the border of the Krupina Highlands and the Ipeľ Basin, 3 km from the district town of Veľký Krtíš. I have been working with wood since I was 10 years old. I started by „making“ wooden toys from scrap wood from my uncle’s carpentry shop. It was thanks to my uncle that I took a liking to working with wood and this liking lasted with me until I finished primary school, when I had to decide what path to follow. Since I could not do carpentry, I tried woodcarving. I graduated from the Forestry School in Banská Štiavnica, where I studied this field. Over time, this craft caught my heart so much that I have remained faithful to it until now. I am currently carving as a freelancer.
